Las Vegas, NV, January 8, 2009 - Azentek is shipping the SmartMirror for the car which includes full turn-by turn, audible navigation, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and backup camera capability. The system uses Navigon navigation software and offers 2-D and 3-D views of routes and intersections and provides millions of points of interest. In 2009, Azentek will be upgrading the SmartMirror to a 4.3” screen from its current 4.0” panel. The SmartMirror 4.3”, combines all of the features of the original SmartMirror with a touch screen that is larger than before. Azentek is the first supplier to place a high-end touch screen GPS into a rearview mirror and the latest flavor of the mirror offers more room, which makes the touch screen even easier to use. The SmartMirror is now available in more than 35 countries—Albania, Australia, Austria, Belgium, British Isles, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Mexico, Monte Carlo, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US. Features of the SmartMirror include an SD card for storing maps and e-books, hands free Bluetooth wireless calling, and a point of interest application designed to provide drivers with direct information they need when traveling such as the nearest gas station, restaurant or rest area. It also provides safety by allowing drivers to keep their eyes directed on the windshield and road as they glance at their route display rather than looking down at the dash like one has to do with in dash navigation system. The Azentek SmartMirror has a US suggested retail of $799. “Initial sales skyrocketed creating back-orders after launching in August, mainly through car dealerships and 12-Volt retailers. Heading into 2009 it will be sold through major retailers across the United States” said Pete Muller, VP of Sales & Marketing for Azentek. “Azentek has sold thousands of the mirrors since August 2008. We really didn't anticipate it taking off quite so quickly but we definitely welcome the challenge of keeping up with the demand.” About Azentek |
