iPod control? - 2007/09/05 21:48
Hello!
I came across your awesome product by way of the avic411 forums. I'm looking to purchase a 2006 Ford Expedition soon and this head unit would be awesome for that truck. My one very important concern however is, does the CPC-1000 have full iPod control?
The Pioneer, Panasonic, Eclipse, and Kenwood double-din navigation units all have this feature and since I'm always listening to music through my iPod, it's an absolutely critical feature. I noticed in the list of features that this wasn't one listed so I was hoping for some confirmation. Thanks again!

Hi there!
Good news, the Atlas CPC-1000 will indeed control your iPod! (Using the iTunes software.)
Because of the fact that it is a computer, you would just need to install iTunes or any other software that will read the content from your iPod. Plug the iPod into one of the USB ports on the front, and you are good to go!
Keep in mind that the Atlas CPC-1000 is a full PC with a 120GB hard drive. You could store all of your music on there without even needing your iPod!
Thanks, Pete

Hmmm....well that's gonna be tough to navigate the music library through iTunes while the car is in motion. It's really not a software that's designed to handle music like that unless you have a keyboard and mouse.
If we transfer music directly onto the hard drive, is there any sort of custom interface aside from Windows Vista that we can use to navigate the music while the car is in motion?
Thanks.

I understand. Perhaps in the future we will be able to develop an iPod interface for the unit but because of the fact that it's a PC, we never really gave it much consideration. It shouldn't be too difficult to put all of your music right on the Atlas and use this interface:

Ah! That's what I was inquring about. The non-iPod specific interface is a slight letdown, but at least you guys have an interface built in that's designed to manage music while the vehicle is in motion. That's good stuff.
Awesome, thanks so much
